San Dieguito Lagoon walk, 9:00 am, Saturday, July 27, 2024
Meet at Trailhead at the southern end of San Andres Dr., Del Mar.
Park along the road.

Come along for a morning lagoon walkabout. We end up at the coast by “South Dog beach” and enjoy the ocean and bay view or you can go for a short swim or wading time. If you go for a dip wear or bring clothes/shoes/towel and clean wash off water in a pack. This trail is the beginning part of the Coast to Crest trail. A nice flat walking trail. There are several info placards to read, an Osprey nest, many water birds, and a lagoon boardwalk. We walk to the coast on the south side of the Del Mar Dog & volleyball beach area then same way back. The total walk is 4.25 miles in 2-3 hours at easy pace with stops. Porta-potties are at Volleyball beach area. Dogs on leash with drinking water are ok but, dogs must stay on leash at the beach during summertime, and clean up any mess.!
Dress for weather and full sun; sun block, hat, water bottle, water shoes or towel swimming.
Directions: From Hwy 5, exit at Via De La Valle heading eastwards. Go past the shopping center which is on the south side of Via De La Valle. Look for San Andres Dr. at stop lights by Wells Fargo Bank. Go right, south, to the end or park anywhere along that road. Trailhead is at end of road.
From Escondido side; Take the Del Dios Rd hwy. Go left at the Via De La Valle intersection and follow all the way down. Just past the horse park, then look for the 1st stop light at San Andres Dr., by the Wells Fargo Bank, turn left, south, and go to the end or park anywhere along road. Trailhead is at end of road.
