August 20 – Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve Walk
Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve Walk, Rancho Penasquitos
9:00 AM, Saturday, August 20, 2022
Meet at Park Village Elementary School lot
GPS: 32.9408, -117.1515
Join us for this nice walk/hike through the Los Penasquitos preserve along the creek. Perhaps the best trails in SD area. In this middle section, the walking loop is a ~4.5 miles in around 3 hours, through wooded trails and open fields down to the waterfall where we will stop for snack time and pool wading if you want to, and cross the creek on rocks. Trails are flat dirt, good footing mostly shared with occasional horses too. Leashed dogs are ok and can go in the creek. There are porta-potties at the park trailhead. At the end, we can also drive over to the old Ranch House and see the goats, chickens, orchard, and flowing spring pool on the property.
Bring a bottled drink and/or pocket snack, water shoes for wading if you wish to and a foot towel, sunscreen and hat.
