DESCRIPTION:WALK ALONG THE SAN MARCOS MTN RIDGE TRAIL (San Marcos)\n9:30 AM, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2026\nMEET/PARK ALONG DOUBLE PEAK DR. AND RIDGELAND CT.\nGPS: 33.11065, -117.18204\nCome out for a good walk along the San Marcos area mountains on the upper paved path from the side of Double Peak out to the communications tower and back. This path has great views of the region. About 3.5 miles and 2 hours, a moderate effort walk on a PAVED trail with a couple of long hill inclines. This is NOT the trail from Discovery Lake to Double Peak. Being a paved path there won’t be any mud to worry about from rains.\nOur route will start from below Double Peak area going west to the communication tower and back. We may take a couple of optional deviations onto dirt trails, if not muddy, through the bush and back out to main path.\nAfter the walk you can drive up to Double Peak to look around from there. Bathrooms are available up top at Double Peak parking. Dogs on leash with water is ok.\nBring a drink/water bottle and wear clothing for weather and sun.\nDirections: We meet and park along Double Peak Dr just beyond Ridgeland Ct.  \nGo to San Elijo Rd. as if you’re driving up to Double Peak top in San Marcos.\nFrom Escondido area: Hwy 78 westbound, exit onto Twin Oaks Valley Rd then go south. Up on the hilltop the road changes name to San Elijo Rd. Follow downhill and look for Double Peak Dr on right side and follow that as stated above to the parking area.\nFrom Vista: From Hwy 78 take Melrose south to San Elijo Rd. Follow uphill to Double Peak Dr.\nOr, southbound El Camino Real to east Palomar Airport Rd to southbound Melrose to San Elijo Rd eastwards.\nFrom Hwy 5 north areas: Exit onto Palomar Airport Rd. eastwards to southbound Melrose to San Elijo Rd eastwards.\nOr south areas: Leucadia Blvd. or La Costa Ave. eastwards to Rancho Santa Fe Rd. northwards to San Elijo Rd. eastwards.\nInfo Contact, text/call:  Vinnie Rodrig 858-231-7722.\n
