DESCRIPTION:Hike at San Elijo Lagoon and Annies Slot Canyon, In Solana Beach\n9:30 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023\nMeet near 825 Santa Inez;   GPS: 33.00740, -117.25948\nCome along for a redo hike to Annies Slot Canyon and around the San Elijo Lagoon. We will try to stay on the cooler side for a hike near the ocean for August on the newly constructed trail system. We start at a different trailhead than last time, no big hills to walk, to get to Annies Canyon and go through that, then walk the short Gemma trails nearby the lagoon then continue around the lagoon. We’ll stop at the northside nature center for a bit then finish up back to the cars. This will be a 4.5 mile round trip in 2.5-3 Hours.\nA shorter hike can be done for a 2 mile round trip in about 1.5 Hours for just Annies canyon and the southside Gemma trails of lagoon and go back. Dogs on leash are ok.  No portopotties are available except at Nature Center.\nThe trailhead and street parking is on the southside of lagoon and just east of Hwy 5 on Santa Inez and Santa Florencia, near the Hwy bridge;\nDirections:  Find your way to Hwy 5 towards Solana Beach. Exit off Hwy 5 at Lomas Santa Fe Dr. Go 1 block east from Hwy 5 and turn left, north, onto Santa Helena. (Wells Fargo Bank is at that corner). (Northbound Hwy 5 exit goes straight across into Santa Helena). Follow to the stop sign, then left onto Santa Rosita going uphill. Follow up to Santa Florencia and left turn going north. Follow S.Florencia to first left on Santa Inez and park along street.\nNote: Shortest way from Escondido area only, go W. Valley Pkwy to Del Dios Rd into Rancho Santa Fe. Through town then take Linea Del Cielo all the way to Hwy 5 becoming Lomas Santa Fe Dr.\nWhat to bring:  Water, sun hat, sunscreen, binoculars, shoes for dusty trail.
