DESCRIPTION:Hike Burnt Mtn, from Cougar Pass Trailhead\n(NW Daley Ranch), Escondido\n9:30 AM, Saturday, December 17th, 2022\nParking lot gps: 33.20980, -117.08580\nJoin us for a good walk on a nice trail. This trail has a mix of woods, chaparral, fields, and some big views. The trail is dirt with rocks. Loop length is ~4.5 miles, +500 foot elevation gain. Allow 2.5 hrs. A water bottle and pocket snack are sufficient. Dogs on leash are ok. Dress in layers for the weather, cool or warm. No portapotties available.\nBest directions to parking lot: From I-15, north of Escondido, exit at Deer Springs Rd & Mountain Meadow Rd. Follow Mountain Meadow Rd (east) uphill. On top stay to the right lane straight through a big intersection as the road splits off and now becomes Hidden Meadows Rd. At the dead end go left onto Granite Ridge for 1 block then first right (eastward) onto Meadow Glen Way E.  At a right bend, it becomes Cougar Pass Rd and soon becomes a dirt road. Follow downhill to the trailhead parking lot. Park anywhere in the lot or along the road.\nAlternative Escondido way: Head north on N.Broadway all the way through the curvy parts to Cougar Pass Rd (no street sign). (It’s the next right after Reidy Canyon Pl.)  Follow Cougar Pass rd, the twisty dirt road, up to trailhead parking.
